DABERS ANPR

Dabers ANPR vs AutoMOT: MOT History Extensions Compared

AutoMOT loads MOT history on 14 UK listing sites and is sold as a subscription. Dabers ANPR works from any car photo and charges per check. A fair comparison.

In short

AutoMOT loads a car's MOT history when you open an advert on one of fourteen UK listing sites. Its paid tier, AutoMOT Plus, is a monthly or annual subscription.

Dabers ANPR works from the car photo on any site, including auction catalogues, and charges per check with no subscription.

If you buy from Autotrader, eBay Motors or Facebook Marketplace, AutoMOT fits. If your stock comes from auction sites or dealer pages outside its list, it does not say it covers them.

AutoMOT is published by DSTRB Limited of Epsom. On 12 October 2026 the Chrome Web Store showed 2,000 users, a rating of 4.3 from 17 ratings, a Featured badge and version 1.0.64, updated four days earlier. Everything below about AutoMOT comes from that listing, its website and its terms. We have not run it.

How AutoMOT works#

The listing says you log in, go to a used car site, and "the extension will start working once you click into an advert". It names Autotrader, eBay Motors and Facebook Marketplace and says it works on "fourteen of the UK's major used car listings sites". The website adds that it "uses AI technology to extract the registration plate" and shows the history next to the vehicle. You can also compare up to four vehicles at once.

The website states who it is for: "Designed with the private used car buyer in mind."

Where AutoMOT is the better choice#

On the sites it supports you do nothing: open the advert and the history is there. Dabers ANPR needs a right-click on each car. AutoMOT also lists Autotrader first among its sites, and Dabers ANPR support on Autotrader is limited today.

The four-car comparison suits a private buyer with a shortlist. Dabers ANPR has no comparison view.

Where Dabers ANPR fits better#

AutoMOT's coverage is a fixed list of listing sites. Its listing does not mention BCA, Manheim or other trade auction sites, and a lot of trade stock comes from those. Dabers ANPR reads the plate out of the image, so the site does not need to be on a list.

The second difference is how you pay. AutoMOT's terms describe a subscription that renews until you cancel, with no price given on the public pages we read. Dabers ANPR has no subscription. You buy credits when you run out, and the same image is never charged twice.
