DABERS ANPR

How the MOT history check works

In short

Right-click a car photo on any website. Dabers ANPR reads the number plate from the image, looks it up in the DVSA MOT History API, and shows the car's full MOT history in a popup on the same page. One lookup costs one credit.

Step by step#

  1. Install Dabers ANPR in Chrome and sign in.
  2. Right-click a car photo where the plate is visible. BCA and Manheim catalogues, Facebook Marketplace, dealer sites, classifieds: any page with a photo.
  3. The plate is read from the image. You don't type the reg.
  4. The MOT history opens in a popup on the same page. Every test with its date, pass or fail, mileage, advisories and defects. Drag it aside and carry on scrolling.

Where the data comes from#

The MOT history comes from the official DVSA MOT History API, the same record GOV.UK's MOT check shows. The difference is the route: no new tab, no typing, one click from the photo you're already looking at.

What it costs#

Each lookup uses one credit. You get 100 free credits a month. Look up the same image again and you aren't charged twice. Need more? Buy packs from 200 credits, 2.5p a credit, down to 1.75p for 1,000 or more. No subscription.
