GOV.UK's free MOT history service and Dabers ANPR read the same DVSA data. What changes is the workflow.
| GOV.UK MOT check | Dabers ANPR | |
|---|---|---|
| Data | DVSA MOT history | DVSA MOT history |
| How you start | Type the registration on gov.uk | Right-click the car photo |
| Where it shows | A new tab | A popup on the listing |
| Cost | Free | Free tier, then pay per lookup |
When GOV.UK is enough#
You are checking one car and already know the plate. It takes, on my estimate, about 30 seconds per car.
When the extension saves time#
You are going through dozens, hundreds or even thousands of listings a day, the plate is only in the photo, and you want to stay on the page.
Thus, if you are a dealer in the auto industry in the U.K, the few coins you spend on Dabers ANPR can save you inordinate amounts of time in the long run.
Time is money. Why are you throwing it away?
A generous free tier#
We're not all car dealers. But I would like the general public to benefit from Dabers ANPR - to make searching for their next used car a little less painful.
